Aims and Objectives
To promote dressage as a sport amongst young
riders.
To provide support and encouragement for
young riders interested in dressage.
To provide easier access to knowledge/expertise
through top riders/instructors.
To provide opportunities to observe and learn
from successful Australian/International riders.
To provide a pool of young riders for ease
of selection/coaching for senior squad.
To raise funds and lock into existing funds
that will allow teams of riders to compete interstate (and eventually internationally.)
To encourage individuals to give back to
the sport.
Selection Criteria
The squad is open to riders up to the age
of 25.
Level One Riders
Must attend 50% of squad training days in
a year.
Riders must have competed at Novice Level,
those riders will continue to be level one riders regardless of whether
they move down to preliminary on a new horse.
Riders must have made themselves available
to help at an EFA event at least once a year.
Riders must be willing to participate in,
and train for, riding displays when required.
All other riders are deemed level two riders.
Junior Dressage Squad Representation
Where funding is to be provided to riders
to represent the Junior Dressage Squad, these riders will be selected from
level one.
Coaching
Instructors will have a minimum NCAS Level
1 qualification.
Instructors need and interest in, and an
ability to build a team spirit amongst the squad members.
Locations
Training weekends (5 -7 per year) are to
take place at Werribee Park unless unavailable, at which time another suitable
location will be chosen.
Financing
Costs to riders and their families is to
be kept to a minimum to make the squad accessible to all those who wish
to participate.
Funding to be raised via raffles etc., the
running of an event.
Sponsorship to be sought where possible.
Uniforms
Riders are eligible to purchase a polo top
after they have attended two squad clinics. The polo tops are navy
blue, with white stripes on the cuffs and collar, and the logo on the left
breast.
Those riders accepted as level one are eligible
for a jacket. The jackets are light wind breakers, blue and white,
with VICTORIA, Junior Dressage Squad across the back.
Logos are available to all riders to sew
onto their white saddlecloths and they may compete with them.
