I study Agricultural Science (2^nd year) at La Trobe University, in Melbourne. It's a fantastic course and I recommend it to anyone who is interested in anything to do with agriculture, and that means an enormous list of things! It's definitely an important industry for the future because the world is not going to be able to feed itself in a short time, and we will have to find better ways to produce food on a sustainable system. That means maximum, quality production without ruining the environment, and ensuring that the land will remain useful for future generations.
