Equestrian Gallery...
This is basically a photo album of my horse photos, plus some canine
ones.
I'll add more as time goes on, but there's currently 35.
Soon I'll add some other horsey pictures that are not my own nags.
The following thumbnails are mostly a piece cut out of a larger
photo, so there's more than what you see here.
Sammy at 5 weeks of age, December '97. A cool shot of him
cantering along.
Aleck at a dressage comp in Horsham, November '97. He got
a 5th ribbon. He always seems to get 5th!!
Allie in the process of being broken in, January '98.
Allie back in '96 sometime. I think he would have been about
18 months old then.
Ben, my second pony and the first one who was any good! He
was a beautiful bay colour, and since then bay is my absolute fave colour.
He was by the same stallion as Jeanie and was a very fleet of foot little
thing! This was my first big win, the coveted "Local Pony" sash at
the Charlton Show, 1990. Photo was from North Central News (yep,
I got in the paper!) Not well scanned because it's framed behind glass.
Same photo as above, with the background blackened.
Myself and Aleck at Horsham again.
My beautiful pure Border Collie (short haired), called Woodvale
Cody, who died at 18 months of age.
Aleck in the paddock, Easter '97.
Jeanie at Werribee in January '96. West Coast Champs in the
Junior Dressage. Went home with Reserve Champion for that effort.
This photo was taken by Julie Wilson.
Teaka at Wagga Wagga, '95, Pony Club National Champs.
Jeanie at home, no idea what year, but it was a while back judgeing
by the dapples! Oh, and don't look at my arms!
My beautiful Wally! This horse had to be put down after breaking
his leg in the paddock. He's actually having his back treated with
slippery elm in that photo with my brother. Tony thought the world
of Wally, as did everybody. He was a big fave, and a dream to ride.
He was my first ex-racehorse, and he was so good that everyone who knew
me went out and got their own ex-racehorses! None were anything like
Wally though!!
Jeanie, after my first competition on her. Grade Five horse
trials at Charlton. As you can see I did very well!
My three horses at the time, Wally, Jeanie and Ben.
Sammy as a newborn foal.
Jeanie after winning the Pony Champion at the Vic Champs.
Photo was actually taken the year later.
Action shot of Wally jumping. This was his first jumping
lessons at a clinic held in 40 degree weather. He coped just fine,
even though a few days before he'd ripped the skin off his shin, and had
a trip to the vet for a bottom lip torn to pieces. You can't see
that in the photo, but it healed up ok and left a little chunk out... perfect
plact for a straw!
Riding Jesimel at Perth in the Western Australian Young Rider's
Internation Dressage Derby. With Anna Bolmat riding Boso, we won
the teams competition. I came third individually, and she was fourth.
Photo taken by Dolly van Zaane.
Same again, smaller photo. Photo by Dolly van Zaane.
Sammy at 5 weeks. Bum shot!
Sammy at 5 weeks.
Sammy at 2 months, in his favourite little pile of straw.
How cute!
Sammy at 5 months, and already learning to pose for the camera.
One of my fave shots. 5 months, April '98.
Same again, April '98, but not such a good shot.
April '98, and a side on shot showing how his colour is changing
to grey.
Another newborn shot... all legs!
Jeanie and Wally at a Six Bar competition at a gymkhana...Wally
hadn't dont much jumping, and had never seen six jumps in a row before.
He would have won it, only I didn't bring him around the corner properly
and he knocked the first rail. Jeanie came first. It was mad
jumping from horse to horse! Especially as the numbers were whittled
down and the fences got higher.
These three big ponies are friendly foes. Jeanie on the left
and Cygnet in the middle are cousins, and Snobby on the right is owned
by the people who once owned Jeanie and actually broke her in. I've
known and competed against Mel and Katrina for quite a few years.
Cyggy has recently passed away due to cancer, and Snobby is retired now
with cancer also. Jeanie is the only healthy one left, although she's
having a holiday to have her baby. This particular day, Cyggy and
Snobby were Co-Champions of the Pony Dressage at the State Champs, and
Jeanie and I won Reserve Champion in the Junior Dressage. So it was
a very successful day for our camp!
Wally at his first jumping lesson again... that would have been
in January '93.
Wally two weeks after I got him, straight off the track.
August '92.
Wally's first Grade 3 horse trials (smallest jump on the course!)
at South Wonwandah (Horsham.) Photo by Tom Hayes. And a bad
scan because it's framed behind glass.
Wally dolled up for a show. My favourite photo.
